External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Thursday met Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in New Delhi, discussing ways to deepen cooperation between India and Poland across a wide range of sectors.

Taking to X, Jaishankar said he was pleased to meet Tusk and appreciated his views on strengthening bilateral cooperation. He also expressed confidence that Tusk’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi would help advance the India-Poland Strategic Partnership.

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Tusk later in the day, focusing on expanding cooperation in defence manufacturing, trade, emerging technologies, space research and renewable energy. The two leaders are also expected to exchange views on regional and global developments, including the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and India-EU relations.

Tusk arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday evening for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties in defence, trade and strategic sectors. He was received at the airport by Minister of State for Food Processing Industries and Jal Shakti, Raj Bhushan Choudhary.

The Polish Prime Minister is accompanied by Finance and Economy Minister Andrzej Domanski and a high-level business delegation. The delegation is scheduled to participate in business forums in New Delhi and Bengaluru on October 22 and 23, respectively.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, this is Tusk’s second visit to India as Prime Minister, following his earlier visit in 2010. The two leaders last met in 2024, when Modi visited Warsaw and elevated India-Poland relations to a Strategic Partnership.

Following his engagements in New Delhi, Tusk will travel to Bengaluru to meet business stakeholders, particularly those from the information technology and space sectors. The visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to economic cooperation and strengthen the longstanding relationship between the two countries.
