Mumbai Police has reportedly issued a ‘Leave India’ notice to Bollywood actor Imran Khan

nephew of superstar Aamir Khan, following his participation in a protest in Mumbai on October 10. The actor has been asked to leave the country by October 28.

Imran Khan, who is believed to hold US citizenship and an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card, joined a protest organised by the satirical political group Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at August Kranti Maidan. The demonstration was held against Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The actor attended the protest alongside his partner, actor Lekha Washington, and his cousin Zayne Marie Khan. All three were detained by police during the demonstration and released later.

According to Mumbai Police, action was initiated against Imran Khan under the relevant provisions of immigration law because he participated in the protest despite not being an Indian citizen.

Responding to the issues raised at the demonstration, Imran Khan said he had joined the gathering as a resident of Mumbai rather than to put forward any specific demands.

“I don’t have demands. I am here as a citizen, as a person who lives in this city. I am here to see why freedom of movement is being restricted. Why are people’s voices being suppressed? That is why I am here,” the actor said.

The notice has drawn attention to the legal restrictions that may apply to foreign nationals and OCI cardholders participating in political activities in India. The specific legal grounds cited in the notice will be central to understanding the action taken against the actor.
