Modern English School, Kahilipara, will host the fourth All Assam Inter-School Taekwondo Championship 2026. Open to young athletes aged 5 to 17, the two-day tournament will take place on Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11, 2026, bringing together participants from schools across the state to compete in different age categories.

The two-day tournament will be held under the aegis of the Modern School of Languages, Sports and Performing Arts. Taking place on the school premises, the event is expected to draw more than 300 participants from across the state. The Kyorugi (sparring) and Poomsae (patterns) championship has four major divisions: Under Eight (5-7 years), Sub-Junior (8-11 years), Cadet (12-14 years), and Junior (15-17 years). Boys and girls will compete in all divisions. Winners in each category will receive gold, silver, and bronze medals along with certificates.

Speaking about the championship and its benefits, Mrs. Jonali Das, Principal of Modern English School, said, “Taekwondo is a combat sport with a history spanning centuries. It helps students build physical and mental strength and contributes to their overall development. The popular forms of Taekwondo require intensive training and focus, which help students align their minds with their bodies and better control their movements and reflexes.

“We are thrilled to see the active participation and interest of the students in Taekwondo. Competitions like these encourage students to learn various self-defence skills. Taekwondo also requires intense training, deep focus, and devotion to achieve different levels of expertise, which builds strength and self-confidence in young minds. It is also essential for schoolgirls to develop mental and physical self-defence skills to protect themselves against any form of attack or intrusion,” she added.
