Indian boxing star Lovlina Borgohain will step into the ring at 10:00 AM IST today, Friday, October 2, to fight China’s Bao Ziyi in the women’s 75kg gold-medal final at the 2026 Asian Games.
The final carries extra significance for the Assam boxer as October 2 is also Lovlina’s 29th birthday. Born on October 2, 1997, Lovlina is a Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medallist and the 2023 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships gold medallist. She also won silver in the women’s 75kg category at the 2022 Asian Games and has now reached her second consecutive Asian Games final.

Lovlina booked her place in the final after defeating Kazakhstan’s Natalya Bogdanova 3–2 in a closely fought semifinal. She will now face China’s Bao Ziyi, who has emerged as one of the young contenders in the 75kg category.
Bao Ziyi was born in 2006, making her around 19–20 years old in 2026, depending on her exact birth date. She won the women’s 75kg gold at the 2026 Asian Boxing Elite Championships earlier this year.
With an Asian Games gold medal at stake, Lovlina will look to mark her birthday with the biggest prize of the tournament — while Bao Ziyi will aim to upset the experienced Indian Olympic and world champion.
