Assam Swimmer Bags Three Medals at National Masters Swimming Championship
Representing Assam in the Women’s 40–44 age category, Guwahati’s Himantaa Barbara secured three medals at the 22nd National Masters Swimming Championship, held in Haryana from September 11 to 13.
Barbara won two silver medals in the 200m Freestyle and 400m Individual Medley events. She also clinched a bronze medal as part of the 4 × 50m Women’s Medley Relay team.
Her impressive performance at the national championship has earned her another major opportunity. Barbara has been selected to represent India at the Asian Masters Swimming Championship, scheduled to be held in Bengaluru from October 4 to 10.
Her selection is a significant achievement for Assam’s swimming community and marks another step forward in her sporting career.
