Amid rescue operations that have been underway for several days through mud and debris in Nepal, two remarkable rescues were carried out on Saturday. A 64-year-old woman and a Chinese national were pulled out alive, surviving against the odds. With these rescues, the number of people found alive in recent days has risen to four.

Most recently, a Chinese worker was rescued alive from a tunnel connected to the Trishuli Hydropower Project. The worker had been trapped inside the 225-metre-long tunnel.

According to the Nepal Army, the worker was rescued in a joint operation involving the Nepal Army and disaster response experts from South Korea. He was taken for a medical examination after being rescued.

Notably, this was the third successful rescue operation at the Trishuli Hydropower Project site. On Friday, two Nepali workers were rescued alive from a tunnel at the Trishuli-3A Hydropower Project.

Amid death and destruction, these successful rescue operations have brought a new ray of hope to Nepal.
