Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh hail PM Modi’s Independence Day address, praise roadmap for Viksit Bharat
Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, describing it as an ambitious and comprehensive roadmap for building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
HM Shah said PM Modi’s address, centred on Swadeshi, prosperity, self-reliance and Nation First, would prove to be a milestone in India’s journey towards becoming a leading nation across sectors.
In a post on X, HM Shah said the Prime Minister had outlined a comprehensive roadmap for a developed India driven by the spirit of a “Drug-free India”, “Safe India” and “Nation First”.
“While addressing the nation on the 80th Independence Day, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi outlined a comprehensive roadmap to build a ‘Viksit Bharat’ driven by the spirit of a ‘Drug-free India,’ a ‘Safe India,’ and ‘Nation First’,” HM Shah said.
HM Amit Shah highlights ‘Saptadhara’ vision
The Home Minister said PM Modi had highlighted the progress made during the past 12 years in sectors including semiconductors, critical minerals, energy and railway transport, while laying out the vision of ‘Saptadhara’ – seven pillars of strength to take India to new heights and make it self-reliant across sectors.
HM Shah also highlighted the Prime Minister’s announcements aimed at harnessing the potential of India’s youth, including AI skilling for more than one crore young people in a year, a free online coaching network and a nationwide talent hunt for the 2036 Olympics.
He said PM Modi had also set ambitious targets for strategic sectors, including achieving 100 GW of nuclear power capacity and establishing eight new semiconductor units by 2047.
“Imbued with the resolve for Swadeshi, prosperity, and self-reliance, this address by Modi Ji will prove to be a milestone in the journey towards becoming a leading nation across all sectors,” HM Shah said.

HM Shah also described the singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ from the ramparts of the Red Fort as a historic moment.
He noted that the song, which served as a rallying cry during India’s freedom movement, was sung from the Red Fort for the first time since Independence.
“Vande Mataram – the spirited rallying cry of the freedom movement – was sung from the ramparts of the Red Fort for the first time today, 80 years after independence,” HM Shah said in another post.
“Witnessing this historic moment not only gave me goosebumps but filled my entire being with sheer ecstasy,” he added.
The rendition marked a significant moment in the 80th Independence Day celebrations, which also coincided with the commemoration of 150 years of Vande Mataram.
Rajnath Singh calls PM Modi’s address ‘superb and outstanding’
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also praised PM Modi’s Independence Day speech, describing it as “simply superb and outstanding” and said it clearly underlined India’s vision and commitment towards becoming a Viksit Bharat.
In a post on X, Singh said the Prime Minister’s roadmap covered a wide range of areas, from Aatmanirbharta and Make in India to energy security, advanced technology, manufacturing and defence.
“PM Shri Narendra Modi’s address to the nation from the ramparts of Red Fort today, was simply superb and outstanding,” Singh said.
He said the address had underlined that India’s journey towards a developed India was being guided by a clear vision and unwavering commitment.
“From Aatmanirbharta and Make in India to energy security, cutting-edge technology, manufacturing and defence; from empowering youth with AI, skills and innovation to strengthening connectivity, the Green & Blue economy and India’s soft power, the roadmap is definitely ambitious and comprehensive,” Singh said.
‘Reform with conviction, empower youth’
Singh said the Prime Minister’s message was centred on strengthening India’s capabilities while creating new opportunities for the country’s young population.
“His resolve is firm and clear: reform with conviction, empower the youth, strengthen our nation and make India a global powerhouse,” the Defence Minister said.
In his Independence Day address, PM Modi had called for accelerating the pace of reforms and changing India’s work culture, thinking and scale of ambition to achieve the objectives set for 2047.
He had also outlined ‘Sapt Dhara’, comprising manufacturing power, agriculture and food production, technology and innovation, Gati Shakti, defence power, green and blue economy, and India’s soft power.
The Prime Minister called for collective efforts by the Centre, states, industry, farmers, youth and citizens to transform India into a developed nation by 2047.
