PM Modi conferred Indonesia’s highest civilian honour ‘Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Tuesday conferred Indonesia’s highest civilian honour, the ‘Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia’ (Star of the Republic of Indonesia), by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto during his official visit to Jakarta.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “This morning, I was honoured with Indonesia’s highest civilian award with great affection. This honour belongs to the millions of people of India. It reflects the sentiments of the people of Indonesia and symbolizes the historic and deep-rooted relations between India and Indonesia. I sincerely thank President Prabowo ji, the Government of Indonesia, and the people of Indonesia for this honour.”

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared the pictures of the award ceremony on X. Jaiswal said, “A tribute to the India-Indonesia friendship. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred ‘Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia’ Medal of Honor by President Prabowo Subianto. This is the highest honor of Republic of Indonesia. It has been awarded in recognition of PM’s leadership in strengthening India-Indonesia friendship and furthering unity, continuity and prosperity of Indonesia. PM dedicated the honour to the people of India and the enduring bonds of friendship between India and Indonesia.”

Instituted in 1959, ‘Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia’ is awarded to individuals who have rendered outstanding service towards the unity, continuity and prosperity of the Republic of Indonesia. It represents the country’s highest civilian and military recognition and is reserved for those who have made exceptional contributions to safeguarding Indonesia’s integrity, stability and national greatness.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi was accorded a grand ceremonial welcome at Istana Merdeka, the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. He also signed the guestbook before holding bilateral talks with President Prabowo Subianto.

Jaiswal said the visit marks a significant step in advancing the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

In a post on X, he said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accorded a grand ceremonial welcome at the Istana Merdeka, the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. The visit marks a significant step in advancing the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, opening new avenues for cooperation across priority sectors while reinforcing the deep trust, shared values and enduring friendship that bind the two countries.”
