Annual Shri Amarnath Yatra begins from both Pahalgam & Baltal routes in J&K

11

The annual Shri Amarnath Yatra, which began officially this morning, is proceeding smoothly from both Nunwan-Pahalgam and Baltal routes. Thousands of Yatris who left the base camps at first light are seen trekking along the tough terrain amid chants of “Bam Bam Bhole” and “Har Har Mahadev”.

Correspondent reports that, braving the mountainous terrain and narrow passes, thousands of pilgrims are on their way to the holy cave shrine to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva and witness the naturally formed ice Shivling.

Along the twin routes, Yatris are provided with water, eatables and resting places to ensure their comfort, safety, and well-being throughout the arduous Yatra. Enthusiastic Yatris have spoken positively about the facilities and well-planned arrangements.

Early this morning, authorities issued an advisory asking pilgrims to travel only on their registered dates. They stated that, as directed by the Supreme Court, a daily ceiling on the number of pilgrims has been fixed for safety and pilgrims arriving without registration or before their scheduled date will not be permitted to proceed. Meanwhile, the second batch of Yatris that left Jammu in the wee hours has reached Kashmir and will proceed to the cave shrine tomorrow morning.
