Guwahati Police Imposes Prohibitory Orders Under Section 163 BNSS for Upcoming Special Assam TET-2026

In an effort to ensure a free, fair, and transparent examination process, the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, has issued a strict prohibitory order ahead of the “Special Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)-2026” . The order has been promulgated under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.

According to the official notification dated June 25, 2026, the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB, DIV-I) is scheduled to conduct the examination on June 28, 2026 (Sunday) for both Lower Primary (Paper-I) and Upper Primary Level (Paper-II) across Bodo, Garo, Manipuri, and Hmar mediums.

Strict Security Measures to Prevent Malpractices

The administration noted that during previous recruitment drives, certain unscrupulous elements used mobile applications like Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, and YouTube via internet connectivity to resort to unfair means, while outsiders attempted to interfere with the selection tests. To plug all loopholes and avoid any public safety or law and order issues, Nirupam Hazarika, APS, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration), has prohibited the entry of unauthorized persons within a 100-meter radius of the examination center.

As shown in, only the following categories of persons are exempted from this restriction:

  1. Candidates carrying a valid Admit Card.
  2. Officials engaged in conducting the exam (Head of the Institution, Centre In-charge, Supervising Officers, invigilators, Grade-III & Grade-IV staff, etc.)
  3. Police Officials on examination duty.
  4. Any authorized officials from the District Commissioner or Government.

Enforcement Timeline and Penalty

The restriction order will remain strictly active on June 28, 2026, during the time frames of 09:30 AM to 12:00 Noon and 02:00 PM to 04:30 PM. Any violation of this public promulgation will be heavily penalized and prosecuted under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
