Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday announced the allocation of Guardian Districts to ministers in the Assam Cabinet to strengthen administrative coordination and accelerate developmental activities across the state.
According to the notification, 16 ministers have been assigned responsibility for various districts.
The allocations are as follows:
- Rameswar Teli – Tinsukia and Jorhat
- Atul Bora – Kamrup (Metro) and Dhemaji
- Charan Boro – Kokrajhar, Baksa and Chirang
- Ajanta Neog – Morigaon and Kamrup
- Ashwini Ray Sarkar – Bongaigaon and Barpeta
- Ashok Singhal – Darrang and Dhubri
- Bimal Bora – Sivasagar and Charaideo
- Biswajit Daimary – Nalbari and Sonitpur
- Jayanta Mallabaruah – Tamulpur and Goalpara
- Kaushik Rai – Sribhumi and Hailakandi
- Keshab Mahanta – South Salmara-Mankachar and North Lakhimpur
- Krishnendu Paul – Dima Hasao and Cachar
- Nilima Devi – Bajali and Udalguri
- Pijush Hazarika – Nagaon, Hojai, Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong
- Ranoj Pegu – Biswanath and Golaghat
- Susanta Borgohain – Majuli and Dibrugarh
The Guardian District system is aimed at ensuring closer monitoring of government schemes, improving coordination between the state administration and district authorities, and facilitating the timely implementation of development projects across Assam.
