33 Unemployed Assamese Youths Stranded After Being Duped in Fake Job Scam

28

In a shocking case of job fraud, 33 unemployed Assamese youths from Tinsukia have been cheated and left stranded in Ghaziabad after being lured with fake job offers by a gang of fraudsters.

The scam began on April 20, 2026, when an email in the name of LG Company was sent to the principal of a government ITI in Tinsukia, offering attractive jobs to 80 youths. Believing the offer to be genuine, 33 youths were issued appointment letters on May 19 and asked to report for duty in Delhi on May 23.

The youths left Assam on May 19. However, instead of Delhi, they were taken to Ghaziabad where a person claiming to be an agent of LG Company received them and lodged them in a hotel. That very night, the fraud began. Each youth was asked to pay ₹6,000 in the name of room rent, training, and other facilities. After collecting the money, the agent disappeared the next morning. His mobile phone was switched off, and no further contact could be established.

The total amount cheated from the 33 youths is believed to be substantial. The victims, who had pinned their hopes on securing a stable job, are now devastated and are surviving on the mercy of locals. Many have been seen sitting outside railway station toilets with no money left to return home.

This incident has left the families of the youths in deep distress, as most of them had borrowed or used their parents’ hard-earned savings to send their sons to Delhi with dreams of a better future.

Police have been informed and an investigation into the organised job racket is expected to begin soon.
