ASSAM : Congress Legislative Party Meeting Scheduled for This Evening
The Congress Legislative Party is set to hold a crucial meeting this evening to discuss the selection of the Leader of Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly.
All newly elected Congress MLAs will proceed to the Assembly together today. According to party sources, after deliberations among the MLAs regarding the Leader of Opposition, the final decision will be taken by the party’s central high command. The Leader will be elected as per the party’s established norms and procedures.
Meanwhile, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi returned to Guwahati today after holding discussions with the central leadership in Delhi. Speaking to the media at Borjhar Airport upon his arrival, Gogoi shared his views on the ongoing developments.
The meeting this evening is expected to be significant as the Congress prepares to play its role as the principal opposition in the 16th Assam Legislative Assembly.
