In a major anti-narcotics operation, Assam Police’s Special Task Force (STF) seized a huge quantity of drugs from Amingaon in Kamrup district.
Acting on specific intelligence, the STF team led by Additional Superintendent of Police (STF) Kalyan Kumar Pathak intercepted a bus (AS 06AC 7555) that had been modified with secret chambers for smuggling narcotics.
Police recovered 2.561 kg of Heroin hidden inside 197 soap boxes and 8 kg of Ganja. The total value of the seized drugs is estimated at around ₹21.36 crore.
Five drug smugglers from Manipur were arrested in connection with the case. The arrested persons have been identified as:
- Abdul Latif
- Taher Ali
- Islamuddin
- Latif
- Azmir
According to police, the consignment was being smuggled from Manipur to other states. The STF is continuing its investigation to bust the larger drug trafficking network.
