Youth Killed in Dagger Attack During Bihu Function in Jamugurihat

A tragic incident occurred during a Bihu function at Rampur Hatinga in Jamugurihat, where a young man was killed in a dagger attack and another was seriously injured.

The deceased has been identified as Leela Baruah from Rongachakua. Another youth, Rakesh Sharma, sustained serious injuries and has been referred to Guwahati for advanced medical treatment.

The accused, Jayakanta Barman from Itakhola Keranipam, was caught red-handed by the Bihu committee members and handed over to the police.

The reason behind the sudden attack is yet to be ascertained. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter.

Following the incident, an angry crowd gathered at the police station demanding strict punishment for the killer. The situation at the police station remained tense for some time.

This unfortunate incident has cast a shadow over the ongoing Bihu celebrations in the area.
