Devojyoti Mukherjee Conferred Jury’s Choice Award at Assam Police Sishu Mitra Champion Awards 3.0.

The third edition of the Assam Police Sishu Mitra Champion Awards was held on Friday afternoon at the Assam Police Institute, where the Director General of Police, Assam, Shri. Harmeet Singh, IPS, presented awards to 21 Police Officers from across the State in recognition of their outstanding contributions to child protection and child-friendly policing.

Among the awardees, Shri. Devojyoti Mukherjee, IPS, Inspector General of Police (Border), was honoured with the prestigious Jury’s Choice Award for his exemplary leadership and commitment to child-friendly policing. The Jury particularly acknowledged his supervisory role in the investigation of the Nagaon and Hojai child abuse cases, which reflected professionalism, sensitivity, and a victim-centric approach.

In addition, Special Recognition Awards were conferred upon officials from the State Child Protection Society, Guwahati Medical College Hospital, and Pragjyotishpur Medical College, in appreciation of their significant contributions towards advancing children’s rights and strengthening inter-departmental collaboration.

The Assam Police Sishu Mitra Champion Awards were instituted to recognise and encourage exceptional efforts by Police personnel in addressing child-related cases effectively. The awards form an integral part of the Assam Police Sishu Mitra Programme, one of the largest child-friendly policing initiatives in the country. The programme is anchored by the Assam Police in collaboration with UNICEF and UTSAH Child Rights Organisation, under the chairpersonship of Mr. Harmeet Singh, IPS, Director General of Police, Assam.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Madhulika Jonathan, Chief of Field Office, UNICEF, senior Officers of the Assam Police, and members of the Award Jury, lending further prestige to the occasion.
