Veteran Artist Syed Sadulla Breathes His Last

Veteran singer, lyricist, composer, and former radio announcer Syed Sadulla passed away on Thursday morning while undergoing treatment at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). He was 77.

Sadulla, who had been admitted to GMCH on Tuesday with a serious blood-related disorder, was battling for his life in the ICU. According to hospital sources, he breathed his last at 10:30 AM due to complications arising from Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL) and hypoxia-related respiratory distress. Despite being placed on ventilator support, his condition deteriorated rapidly.

Born on February 1, 1948, in Dibrugarh district, Syed Sadulla was a multifaceted artist whose career spanned several decades. He served as a presenter at All India Radio, Dibrugarh, and was celebrated for his soulful voice, evocative lyrics, and timeless compositions that enriched Assamese music and culture.

His creative works continue to resonate deeply with generations of listeners, making him a beloved and enduring figure in Assam’s artistic heritage.

The news of his demise has sent a wave of grief across the state. Musicians, admirers, and cultural personalities have expressed profound sorrow, describing his passing as the end of an era in Assamese music and broadcasting.

Sadulla’s legacy as a singer, lyricist, and composer will remain an integral part of Assam’s cultural identity for years to come.
