Entries invited for 3rd Kalyan Barooah Memorial Awards for Media

The North East Media Forum and My Home India take the privilege of announcing the 3rd Kalyan Barooah Memorial Awards. The award ceremony will be on December 11, 2025, coinciding with the birthday of late Barooah.
Barooah, a long-time North East correspondent of The Assam Tribune in New Delhi, breathed his last in the aftermath of the deadly 2nd wave of Covid 19 Pandemic in 2021.
Barooah’s immense contribution towards bringing issues of North East India into national focus is remembered by all.
It was during a memorial meeting organised by the North East Media Forum in association with Press Club of India on May 1, 2022 that Mr Sunil Deodhar, the founder of social organisation My Home India, had announced the initiation of awards for media-persons from North East India in memory of the late Barooah.
The 1st and 2nd Kalyan Barooah Memorial Awards ceremony were held on December 11, 2023 and 2024 at Constitution Club, New Delhi.
Nominations across various categories are now being invited for the 3rd Kalyan Barooah Memorial Awards, 2025.

The criteria for the Kalyan Barooah Memorial Award are:
Journalists from the Northeast region working anywhere in India (within or outside the region) and journalists from any part of the country covering the region (regular and freelance) can directly apply in four categories. Also, any individual can also submit the nomination of any journalist fulfilling these criteria.
The 5 categories are:

  1. Print media
  2. Digital media
  3. Electronic media
  4. Still Photographer
  5. Videographer
    There is no age restriction for sending entries.
    A jury comprising eminent persons from media, constituted by the North East Media Forum, will select the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award on their own, and also select the winners from among the entries received.
    Applicants must attach the scanned copies of their byline stories or certified video clips along with their applications (minimum 3, maximum 5). Each scanned copy or the video clip must clearly mention the name of publication/channel, date of publication/telecast, and language. Digital entries can send active links of published stories.
    In case of entries in languages other than English, a gist of each item should be provided in English.
    Applicants must submit their bio-data and ID card of their respective organizations, along with their detailed address, mobile phone number and email id.
    Applications must be submitted before the scheduled deadline of November 10, 2025.
