Assam Cricket Association hosts Annual Awards Ceremony to honour outstanding performers of 2023–24 & 2024–25 seasons

The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) hosted its Annual Awards Ceremony on 13th August at the ACA Banquet & Lawn, ACA Stadium Complex, Guwahati, honouring players who delivered exceptional performances during the 2023–24 and 2024–25 cricketing seasons.

In a grand gesture of appreciation for sporting excellence, the ACA distributed a total of ₹71 lakhs in prize money to 38 outstanding players from both seasons. Additionally, the winners and runners-up of the APCC (Assam Premier Club Championship) for both years were felicitated with cash awards — ₹10 lakhs for winners and ₹5 lakhs for runners-up in each season — taking the overall prize distribution of APCC including district and Zonal approximately ₹75 lakhs.

The ceremony was graced by Honorary BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia as the Chief Guest. Also present on the occasion were ACA President Taranga Gogoi, Secretary Tridib Konwar, Vice President Rajdeep Oja, Joint Secretary Shri Rajendra Singh, Treasurer Chiranjit Langthasa, and Apex Council Members Anupam Deka along with several dignitaries and members of the cricket fraternity.

The ceremony’s Chief Guest, Honorary BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia, in his address, commended the ACA’s consistent efforts in nurturing talent and investing in the future of Assam cricket. He lauded the players for their dedication and discipline, while also acknowledging the invaluable role of coaches whose relentless guidance and commitment have been instrumental in shaping the state’s cricketing success. Emphasising that “sustained hard work and a professional approach are the keys to reaching the highest levels of the sport,” Saikia also highlighted the BCCI’s continued commitment towards strengthening grassroots infrastructure in Assam and the Northeast, ensuring that emerging players get top-class exposure and opportunities..

Congratulating the award winners, ACA President Taranga Gogoi reiterated ACA’s dedication to providing top-class facilities and opportunities for cricketers in Assam, stating that the association would continue its efforts to raise the competitive standards and bring more laurels to the state.

ACA Secretary Tridib Konwar in a statement, highlighted the role of structured programs, competitive exposure, and grassroots development in shaping Assam’s cricketing success. “We remain committed to creating the right environment for our players to excel, and these awards are a token of our appreciation for their relentless pursuit of excellence, Konwar mentioned.

The evening concluded with the presentation of awards and an expression of collective resolve to take Assam cricket to greater heights, making it a proud contributor to the nation’s sporting success.
