The Election Commission today announced bypolls to five Assembly Constituencies of Gujarat, Kerala, Punjab and West Bengal. The notification for the bypolls will be issued tomorrow, and nominations can be filed until 2nd of the next month, with scrutiny scheduled for 3rd June. The last date for the withdrawal of candidatures is 5th June. Polling will take place on 19th June while the counting will be held on 23rd June. In Gujarat, the bypoll will take place on Kadi and Visavadar seat. The Kadi seat is vacant due to the death of sitting MLA Karsanbhai Punjabhai Solanki and the other bypoll to the Visavadar seat will take place due to the resignation of sitting member Bhayani Bhupendrabhai Gandubhai. In Kerala, the Nilambur seat will go to bypoll since P V Anvar has resigned, while bypoll is to be held in Punjab’s Ludhiana West seat due to the death of sitting member Gurpreet Bassi Gogi. In West Bengal, By Election to the Kaliganj Assembly seat has been necessitated due to the death of sitting assembly member Nasiruddin Ahamed.
