The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) is expected to resume on May 16 after being temporarily suspended for a week due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. With both nations recently announcing an immediate ceasefire, the IPL Governing Council and the BCCI are now preparing to restart the remaining 16 matches of the tournament.
As per reports, the tournament is likely to kick off again with a match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on May 16 or 17. To make up for the lost time, the BCCI is planning to schedule double-headers—two matches a day—leading up to the final, which is now tentatively set for May 30.
Franchises have also been asked to ensure that their players reassemble by Tuesday in preparation for the resumed fixtures.
